Lost Filling or Crown

While they are designed to last, it is possible to lose a filling or a crown. If your teeth are the victims of dental decay or physical trauma, these restorations can become lost or even dislodged. When you have suffered from a lost filling or crown in Munster, Indiana, contact All Smiles Munster as soon as you can to receive care from our experienced dentist as soon as possible.

Until you are able to come into our dental office, you may face discomfort due to your dental condition. Increased tooth sensitivity is a common result of a filling or crown that has fallen out. There are a few things that you can do to help with any sensitivity or discomfort.

  • Sanitize and clean your dislodged crown or filling. Then you can attempt to temporarily re-affix it, using dental cement, which can be purchased at most pharmacies
  • Coat the exposed surface of the tooth with dental cement
  • Apply clove oil to the damaged tooth.

Do NOT ever attempt to reattach the crown to your tooth using any kind of glue.

During your appointment, Dr. Bunmi Adekugbe can clean your tooth and the knocked-out restoration and then determine whether or not it will still fit. If it does, then he may be able to reattach it to your tooth, if not then you need to have a new restoration made.

Call 219-800-2540 immediately if you have lost a crown or filling.
